Another Day, No Dollars!

Ha, no earnings today. It is the weekend again, and even though last Monday was a public holiday, I added an extra day in overtime. It took a while to adjust to the 5:30 am starts this week. The first few days, I was waking before my alarm to the fear of sleeping in. Thursday was better except the dogs went crazy at about 12:30 which required me to get up and have a general check of the property. Friday I got it right and it made all the difference to my ability to stay awake at work.

A bit of a whoops this week at work, I bent a bit of the pack and place. Unintentionally I put the wrong part in and it was careless, you live and learn each day. I thought I would get bored a new one, but DB just looked at me, I might have imagined that he rolled his eyes, and said to take it to maintenance and explain what I did. I feel like I dodged a bullet there.

I usually pick up MJ and drop him off on a work day, but this week he had a car for the first two days, so it was only a pick-up for the last two days this week. MJ is a top bloke and he and the guys at work look after me because of my age I think, and I appreciate that.

I started the day off with a Lucy Lumen YouTube video if you are a film shooter follow the link and give her a subscribe.

I then did my usual Saturday tasks. First Hanwood Butchery for some more of their delicious bacon and a Wyagu scotch fillet. The one I had last weekend was melt-in-the-mouth butter. A quick stop at Woolworths for a litre of Nudie Pulp Free OJ.

Although my stops for produce are quick, in as much as I know what I want and know where it is. Other than those tasks I then drive around listening to my Spotify playlist. I take Anna’s car as it is a cool machine. It is a Hyundai Kona and has all the features being a Highlander. So I pump the Music, and the heater as it is winter, seat warmers on and the sunroof open and drive just to listen to tunes.

Breakfast was a nice eggs benedict, I always use the Maille Hollandaise Cream Sauce With Lemon Juice rather than make it, who has time to stuff it up!! Also the coffee this morning was from The Killer Coffee Co. and is called the Darkerside. It is a great strong roast.

It is that time of the year again when the days get shorter. The nights get cooler and Jack Frost visits in the mornings. But, the important thing that happens is that the truffles mature and I get to eat them. I ordered my truffles this morning and they should be packed Monday and here shortly after. Let’s hope it’s Wednesday, as hump day, scrambled eggs and truffles on Anna’s sourdough sound divine. I get my truffles from Perrigold Truffles of Tasmania. I left a message in our family room messenger group this morning saying basically that the truffles had been ordered and that scrambled eggs and truffles will be sometime after they arrive. SIL G (now you have been mentioned G) immediately asked if that was an invitation and of course it was.

A sample truffle 🙂

Cleaning is the job that you love to hate. Anna is a great organiser of cleaning and she organised me today to mop the floors. She was a champ and vacuumed first though. At least they are done.

So we are off to Canberra early next month, for my birthday to be exact. Canberra is one of my favourite places on Earth. It is generally deserted on weekends. I know we will eat good food as we always do. For sure we will have breakfast at Patissez, a pulled pork benedict with a mocha for sure. I feel that I want Korean for my birthday dinner. At some stage, we will end up at the dumpling house in Civic as well. A trip to the Bus Depot markets on a Sunday will be a must as well. I will post on the days that we are in Canberra.

One of the Events that I go to Canberra for is the National Photographic Portrait Prize. Last night the winner was announced and I was underwhelmed with the winner and in truth all the finalists. It lacked earlier years’ brilliance. I will be fair and not comment on the judges (which in itself is a comment on the judges ;).

I received a zine from Matt Murray yesterday it is 35MM Japan. Matt is a keen photographer and does a fair bit of film. You can see more about Matt here.

Not too much else happened today a bit of book reading and off for an early night.

I would love to know what you would like to hear about. I have some posts in the pipeline that are not based on my day as well.

Remember to LOVE LIFE!!

  1. Well Anthony you get to let us all up to date. Can’t say I like truffles and I’m fussy about the mushrooms I like to eat, if I could have a Benedict it would have to be without egg white.
Extremely interesting reading your blog and I love to see what you have been up to.
