I can’t believe that the police in Paris shot dead a teenager at a traffic stop. I don’t care if the guy was driving a stolen car, or not. I have no idea if that was the case at all. What truly surprises me is that it caused riots.
Riots are not something that we commonly see in Australia. There were the Cronulla riots that I remember back in 2005. I had moved from the seaside in September 2005 to Griffith and supposed it wasn’t such a big deal for me then. I was being assimilated into a diverse community at the time.
Other than the riots at Cronulla, I can not in my living memory, remember a riot in Australia. Please let me know if I am wrong.
Unfortunately, this is not the case in other countries both the US and France seem to have very violent protest movements with both countries having had riots in my time that I remember.
Sunday night family Dinner was Mushroom risotto with truffles of course. It was a bit like that as well all week. We had truffles twice, both Monday and Thursday nights… On scrambled eggs of course! Both times on delectable homemade sourdough.

Wednesday I put my back out and after the dial, engaged and repeat till it answers method of getting a doctor’s appointment I secured a tele appointment. Then I had to harass reception to get my painkiller script and the chemist to get the pills. All worked out with MC going and picking them up for me.
We had “the boys” to look after and feed Wednesday night, so it was pizza for us and hot chips. We ordered the pizza from Belvedere at the top of Banna Avenue. I love the food from here and they have fixed the issues with their phones that were annoying for quite some time. Of course, it is always better in-store than when you get delivery.
I can’t seem to crack early Fridays lately never before 4:30 pm on Friday lately and I was 5 minutes short of an 11 hr day this week. To be honest I was buggered.
I actually love my job as I have said before the boys look after me, but I have this primeval urge to see who has the biggest set of balls. I feel really bad if they are hand-stacking and I don’t do my bit. AZ tells me to keep away but I really don’t want to. I know I should slow down but I don’t want to.
I am starting to plan my few days away next weekend, I happen to turn 59 next Saturday and I am off to Canberra for a few days. There will be plenty of eating and trips to both the art gallery (to see Blue Poles I forget how many times) and to the National Portrait Gallery to see the National Photographic Portrait Prize. Something I do each year due to my love of photography

I am not sure why Blue Poles is so important to me, maybe like the fall of Saigon and the Murder of Mackay it is a defining period of my Childhood. Something so vivid and part of my memory. I saw the painting in the window at the High Court of Australia if my memory serves me correctly. It won’t be until years later that I hear the controversy surrounding the painting. The purchase had to be approved by the PM at the time as it was above the limit the Director of the art gallery could approve.
I was taken to see it by my grandmother and grandfather I feel we went in winter and I think it must have been 1974. As a 10-year-old my life revolved around Lego and Meccano and playing with my friends, but Blue Poles must have made an impression on me at the time.
I have been back to see Blue Poles many times now and a trip to Canberra is incomplete if I miss that painting.
Dinner tonight is one of my favourite ‘Ossobuco‘ with the meat from Hanwood Butchery, I had been ‘collecting trays for a few weeks and we fed a few of Anna’s kids and a friend of theirs as well as a couple of grandkids. A fine meal it was.
Well, I need to sleep now.
Remember to LOVE LIFE!!
