I love a good documentary, and All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is great not only a doco but also a doco on Nan Goldin.

It shows many of her icon images and goes over her fight for the Shakler Family and their role in the US Opioid Crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unknown to me Nan had an opioid problem from a wrist injury and had to go to rehab and use medication to subdue the effects of withdrawal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The images that are shown are sublime and show her work in great detail. There are many images of her iconic slide show “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency” of which I am lucky enough to own a copy and to have also seen the print images at NGA (which can be seen there till Late January. In that show, Nan explores her ‘tribe’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nan’s storytelling of her life through the doco is great and we come to be that little closer to her and understand the struggles that make her photos what they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, a good doco and it is available on iTunes movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember to LOVE LIFE!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
